This
site describes a collaborative project between pupils of Llandrygarn
Primary School in Anglesey, Wales, UK, Otterup School in Fyn, Denmark
and Beulah Lightburn School in Pearl Lagoon, a village in the Southern
Atlantic Coast Region of Nicaragua. The project was co-ordinated
by the World Education Project, Bangor University and took
place over three school years from June 1997 to the end of 1999.
The project is based on the classroom themes of Ourselves, Our
Environments and Our Homes. It involves discussions and exchanges
of work and uses a wide variety of communication methods including
post, electronic conferencing and chats, web pages, videos and teacher
exchanges. It is aimed particularly at the subject areas of Language
and Literacy, Geography and Information and Communications Technology
and at Personal and Social Development. Above all, it prepares the
children to be active global citizens.
